Description
MailCheap is a newsletter platform made by Marc Lou. You write an issue, send it to your list and publish it on the web. You can also connect an AI agent such as ChatGPT, Claude or Grok to write drafts, send you tests, schedule issues and read your stats, and it asks you before it sends anything to your list.
The whole app is open source under the AGPL-3.0 licence. You can run it on your own server with MongoDB, Amazon SES and Upstash QStash, or pay for the hosted version at mailcheap.ai, which is run by JustShipIt Pte. Ltd. The self-hosted version comes without support.
Subscribers can be brought over from beehiiv, Substack or Mailchimp by importing a CSV file.
MailCheap Features
- An editor for images, headings, lists and links, with a live preview
- Scheduled sending on the day and time you pick
- A web archive page for every issue, on your own domain
- Connections for ChatGPT, Claude, Grok, Claude Code, Codex and Cursor
- Signup forms, a signup API and welcome emails
- Sending pauses on its own when bounces or complaints run high
