Description

Wavosaur is a free audio editor that you can use to edit, process and record sounds

. You can use it for various audio tasks such as cut, copy, paste operations, produce music loops, analyze, record, batch convert, etc.

Note: The software has no installer. It also works on Windows 98, Windows XP and Windows Vista.

Wavosaur is a portable audio editor that has all the features audiophiles look for. It’s not often that a program comes along that has everything one expects while taking up precious little space and being free to download and use. It achieves its light footprint with the application of some very tight and well thought out programming work on the part of its creators.

Along with all of the essential features of an audio editor, Wavosaur allows you to convert files, change bit rates, cut, normalize, detect beats, create and apply volume envelopes and a whole lot more.

It also supports VST plugins, ASIO driver, multichannel WAV files, real-time effect processing.

Not only is it quite featureful, but it’s also fast and slick. The edits are non-destructive- meaning you can undo your edits and actions without having to go back and reload the source file. Part of the reason it’s so small is the fact that it does not do the chorus, reverb, compress, flange and so on. It depends on VST effects plug-ins instead.

The interface is extremely efficient, and easy to understand- although it has a slightly retro look to it. It’s flexible in the way it lets you dock your toolbars, and is very easy to get accustomed to and learn.

Wavosaur is a good product for those who are new to audio editing, or whose audio editing needs are simple. But it also makes a unique solution for those with a fair amount of experience who want to use it on smaller devices and take it on the road. Sit in a cafe and collaborate on the fly, create audio tracks for sub-professional video productions, or have fun with it.

There are a lot of light and free audio editors out there, like Audacity, Recording Studio Lite, and so on. One of the best things about this tiny program is the fact that it works with Windows 98, and Windows XP- which might be appreciated by those who still use them.
