Description

Pidgin is a free, open-source, cross-platform chat client (formerly known as Gaim) that allows you to log-in and talk simultaneously on multiple chat networks.

A typical example is when you can chat with friends that use MSN, Google Talk or Yahoo Messenger; instead of using three different apps, you can talk with each one of them using a single program. That was just an example, the supported chat networks are really long (e.g., Yahoo!® MSN Messenger®, ICQ®, AIM®, Google® Talk®, Bonjour, Gadu-Gadu, Jabber/XMPP, IRC, etc.) not to mention that thanks to several plugins, the list is even more extensive. Due to the broad support for so many chat networks, Pidgin is also one of the most updated software. Specific features and services are added, modified or deprecated all the time so, each time when a significant change happens (e.g., a security issue or a major bug), there's also a new version of Pidgin released.

The current version runs on Microsoft® Windows®, Linux and other UNIX like OS, it is released under the GNU General Public License and is also available in almost all major languages.

Trademark Note 1: Microsoft®, Windows®, and other product names are either registered trademarks or trademarks of Microsoft Corporation in the United States and other countries.
